I don’t know if these actually get read, but thank you for sharing Writing Magic with the world. It was the reason I started writing fiction back in elementary school, and I still remember your tip about whats in your character’s pockets. I’m in high school now and trying my darndest to finish a novel for the first time, and it had me realizing I owe my start to that book. Thank you Ms. Levine!

I just bought The Lost Kingdom of the Bamarre, and I'm completely blown away.
I bought it because I just finished my dream of writing a novel, writing for NaNoWriMo. I finished the month at 50,001 words and the novel at 59,000. But everyone said if I ever tried to publish it I needed to compare it to a similar book, and Goblin Princess is the story of a homeless orphan girl who has to stop a goblin uprising to save the kingdom, and the goblins.
It's tough to find a book like that, but when I realized that the heart of the book is her need to overcome her own prejudices I was able to find your book. All the rest of them are about plucky heroes overcoming other people's prejudices.
Now I need to buy the other Bamarre book, and the books on writing. My book was supposed to be a single stand-alone story, but it raised the question of what would become of a friendship between a merchant girl adopted by goblins and her best friend who is third prince of the land as she grew into adulthood. Merchant Princess is a classic romance and a modern romance in one. Lots of political intrigue and high adventure plus a fight for love. Ivanhoe is Sleepless in Seattle.
And the third book deals with a rival kingdom that sprang into being halfway through writing and will have to be inserted in the earlier chapters in the rewrite. in Warrior Princess she'll lead goblin troops into battle to prove them worthy of full citizenship.
I'll need to buy Writing Magic before I start the sequels

I just wanted to tell you how much Ella Enchanted means to me. It was one of the first books I read, when I was in first grade, and the book that inspired me to read and write more. I really owe it to Ella Enchanted for getting me through almost every independent reading assignment throughout most elementary and middle school. hello! i'm unsure if you will even see this but i wanted to reach out and tell you that ella enchanted is one of my favorite books in the entire world. I've been thinking about it a lot lately, about how much it impacted me as a child and how magical it makes life feel every time i reread it, so i just wanted to say thank you for writing such an incredible book. if you do read this and have the time to respond, i have a question regarding the book. I have always been especially enamored by the candle trees and wondered if you ever drew them or had any real life inspiration behind what they looked like (how big they were, the kind of leaves they grew, etc.) i know it's a strange thing to ask about but i've just always wondered. thank you again ❤️
